The unit is designed to enable candidates to demonstrate welding skills typically found in industry and associated underpinning knowledge to a level that will enable them to complete welded joints in simple welding positions and prepare them for undertaking qualifications at NVQ level 1
What you'll learn / gain skills in
Students will gain an understanding of the principles of welding and the associated health & safety implications. On successful completion of this course, students will be able to competently carryout Metal Inert Gas welding techniques and may wish to progress to the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Introductory Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding Skills.
No formal entry requirements. However, all students will complete a short initial assessment on literacy & numeracy. Students must also provide eligibility evidence to meet European Social Funding regulations, including:
- Employment status
- National Insurance number
Additionally, to be eligible for this course you must:
Live in OR work in OR be seeking to grow your business within the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear or County Durham areas.
The course can be attended by both the employed and unemployed.
