This course provides an excellent opportunity for those who would like to work in either the retail or hospitality sector.

If you are unemployed and claiming benefits you are eligible to apply for the course.

Job Centre Plus, Gateshead College and intu have teamed up to provide a pre-recruitment training package to build your knowledge and skills in the retail or hospitality sector and to support you into employment. You will gain nationally recognised qualifications, take part in a tour either in a restaurant or retail store, have a mock interview and be well equipped for interviews.

A total of 15 days full time, Monday to Friday 9.30am until 4pm.

There are various awareness session dates throughout the year which are approximately monthly and if successful you will be invited on to Retail Gold.

Entry Requirements

This course is for unemployed people claiming benefits and there are no formal entry requirements. However, all students will complete a short initial assessment and are required to gain Entry Level 3 for literacy and numeracy. Students must also provide eligibility evidence to meet European Social Funding regulations, including:

  • Employment status
  • DOB
  • Residency
  • National Insurance number

You must be unemployed to be eligible for this course.
